Job summary

Boardwalk Pipelines, LP, is seeking a Sr App Dev Analyst in Houston, TX to provide automated testing and technical support for core applications. The role involves designing test scripts, analyzing requirements, and ensuring successful implementations while collaborating with vendors, business users and developers.

You will work across IT and business teams, maintain test artifacts, and participate in on-call support, with a focus on quality and reliability of critical systems.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional coding experience in C#, Java, Javascript or Ruby.
• UI test automation experience with Selenium, Protractor, Watir or Playwright.
• Experience in all phases of the software and testing lifecycle.
• Strong testing background with test strategy, planning, and execution.
• Agile methodology experience (Scrum).
• Experience with test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr).
• SQL proficiency and RESTful services knowledge.
• Experience with Cloud environments (AWS).
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins, CircleCI).
• QE roles experience including SDET, automation, manual testing, or performance.
• Mobile or web UX testing experience.

We are currently looking for an Sr App Dev Analyst for our Houston, TX office.

Position Description

This position will provide application software automated testing services and technical support for commercial applications in support of core organizational and business processes. This includes the following:

• Develop automated test scripts and new applications or updates existing automated testing procedures for enhancements in existing applications.
• Analyze user requirements and acceptance criteria to develop recommended testing strategies, plans, and scripts.
• Assist in ensuring that system enhancements are successfully implemented.
• Provide day-to-day support and participate in after hours on-call support.

This includes analyzing new requirements to assist in development of estimates for proposed projects and system requirements. The responsibility also includes collaboration with developers to explain any code deficiencies or bugs. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the development process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications.

They will collaborate with vendors, business users, developers, network administrators, systems analysts and database analysts in resolving problems with software products or systems. They will develop and utilize standard templates for test plans, scripts and automated testing code.

They will collaborate with business users and developers to develop and implement test plans to ensure that the system performs specified functions with high quality.

Essential Functions

• Establish and maintain regular communication with IT management, the customer base, and staff regarding pertinent IT activities and services.
• Communicate critical events, issues, or concerns to IT management in a proactive or timely manner.
• Deploy, monitor, maintain, develop, upgrade and support IT services and systems. Collaborate with project leaders and project sponsors to report project scope, priority, budget and status.
• Participate in technical research or special projects as required, which could include leading such activities on smaller-scale initiatives
• Mentor less experienced team members
• Learn new technologies, as needed, in order to effectively complete related work and to promote emerging technologies when warranted.
• Assist in the development of business continuity plans and procedures to support the continuance of planned company operations during a business disruption.

Required Skills, Knowledge, And Experience

• 2 years of professional coding experience in C#, Java, Javascript or Ruby
• UI Test automation experience (e.g. Selenium, Protractor, Watir, Playwright)
• Experience in all phases of the software and testing lifecycle, inception through deployment
• Strong functional testing background, including defining test strategy, test planning, test case design, and execution
• Project experience using an Agile methodology (e.g. Scrum)
• Experience with test management tools (e.g. TestRail, Zephyr)
• SQL proficiency
• Understanding of RESTful web services and microservice architecture
• Experience working with Cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• CI experience in Jenkins, CircleCI or similar toolset
• Mixed experience in various QE-related roles such as:
• Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
• Automation tester or automation framework developer
• Manual functional tester
• Performance test engineer
• Defect manager
• QE tools, reporting, and metrics specialist
• Mobile or web UX tester
• Test environment or test data coordinator/lead
