Job summary

Nationwide in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Analyst in Procurement to drive value through supplier negotiations, contract execution, and category management. You’ll partner with teams to deliver efficient procurement processes and scalable sourcing strategies.

This role follows the SuccessFlex model with three remote days and two in-office days weekly, primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in our Columbus office.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in supply management, procurement, business, finance, accounting, MIS, economics or related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of procurement, contracting or category management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to negotiate with suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with Procurement teams to manage intake, pipeline, and data analytics to enable a predictable procurement process.
  • Negotiates terms of basic or standard contracts, including SLAs and clauses.
  • Assesses supplier risk and coordinates with risk partners for necessary assessments or contract provisions.
  • Processes new or renewal contracts per procurement policies, including approvals and signatures.

As a Senior Analyst, you'll be responsible for the procurement and acquisition of goods and services for Nationwide that deliver value, enhance processes and drive efficiency. We'll count on you to negotiate and execute basic contracts with suppliers, across one or more categories, to build procurement skills and gain experience.

This is an entry-level Procurement position responsible for supporting low-complexity and low-risk basic contracts in alignment with our Procurement Sourcing Strategies. The ideal candidate can work across multiple categories, enjoys negotiations and can confidently challenge suppliers to secure the best value, and performs well in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.

The role follows our SuccessFlex model, which includes three remote workdays and two in-office days per week, with an expectation to be on-site in our Columbus OH office primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for team collaboration.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Partners and collaborates with the other Procurement teams to manage intake, business pipelining, and data analytics, to provide a predictable, easy to follow and efficient procurement process.
  • Negotiates the terms of a basic or standard contract, including conditions, clauses, and service level agreements.
  • Assesses supplier risk prior to contract and collaborates with applicable risk partners, e.g., Information Risk Management, for additional specialized assessments or necessary contract provisions.
  • Performs and processes a new or renewal contract according to procurement policies and procedures, including project documentation, approvals, and signatures.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to Manager, Procurement. No direct or indirect reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences
Education

Undergraduate degree in supply management, procurement, business, finance, accounting, management information systems, economics or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation

Procurement, purchasing, or project management designations, as applicable.

Experience

Typically, three or more years of experience in procurement, business, category management and contracting or equivalent professional experience in other closely related industries or a degree in Supply Chain or Procurement.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Basic knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of supply chain management, procurement or other related industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and math skills required to negotiate with suppliers. Ability to work in project teams toward common objectives. Focus on timely communication, efficiency, speed and quality. Highly organized and able to manage multiple efforts running concurrently. Proficiency in common office software like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

The expected starting salary range for Sr Analyst, Procurement Category Management : $62,500.00 - $93,500.00
