Job description

HRIS Senior Analyst – Learning, Talent and Performance will play a critical role in the successful implementation and ongoing optimization of Workday, with primary focus on the Learning, Talent Management, and Performance modules. This position will serve as the functional subject‑matter expert (SME) and solution architect for these workstreams, partnering across HR, Operations, Finance, and business leadership to design, configure, test, and deploy enterprise‑grade Workday solutions aligned with Energy Transfer's workforce development strategy.

This role requires a practitioner who can bridge the gap between technical configuration and business strategy - someone who deeply understands how Learning, Talent, and Performance solutions interconnect and can guide stakeholders through design decisions with clarity, best practice insight, and a focus on long‑term scalability.

This position is onsite in Houston, TX, and requires full‑time office presence - remote or hybrid work is not available. Relocation assistance may be provided for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Workday Learning (LMS)

Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of Workday Learning as the enterprise Learning Management System (LMS), supporting both centralized and decentralized content delivery models.

Architect the LMS environment to support a broad range of training initiatives, including operational, compliance, onboarding, leadership development, and skills‑based learning programs.

Configure learning campaigns, programs, course offerings, and blended learning paths aligned to workforce enablement goals.

Manage third‑party LMS integrations and SCORM/xAPI content compatibility to support a modern, scalable learning ecosystem.

Create and maintain learning administration processes, ensuring data integrity, user access, and reporting accuracy within the platform.

Design self‑paced training tutorials, job aids, and knowledge transfer materials to drive administrator and end‑user adoption of Workday Learning.

Collaborate with HR, Operations, and business leaders to ensure the LMS architecture supports both strategic development programs and day‑to‑day operational training requirements.

Workday Talent Management

Design and configure Workday Talent Management solutions, including Performance Reviews, Succession Planning, Career Development, and Individual Development Plans (IDPs).

Support the configuration and launch of merit review cycles, calibration processes, and performance improvement plan (PIP) workflows.

Partner with HR and business leadership to develop connected talent solutions that link Recruiting, Learning, and Talent programs to support leadership pipelines and workforce capability growth.

Configure and optimize Talent Profiles, Succession Pools, and Career Hubs to enable a modern, employee‑driven career experience.

Lead design and confirmation sessions with stakeholders to align Workday Talent configuration to organizational development priorities.

Cross‑Functional and Operational

Participate in system testing, data validation, and troubleshooting throughout all phases of implementation and post‑production.

Conduct requirements gathering sessions and document current‑state and future‑state process flows to ensure solution alignment with business objectives.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including HRIS, Payroll, Finance, and IT to ensure data integrity and process consistency across Workday modules.

Provide stakeholder training and enablement, translating complex Workday functionality into practical, user‑friendly guidance for HR professionals and business leaders.

Stay current with Workday releases and proactively recommend enhancements, new features, and process improvements to support continuous optimization post‑go‑live.

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including configuration decisions, process flows, training guides, and system administration procedures.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

5+ years of hands‑on Workday experience, including full‑cycle implementation experience and major HCM functional enhancements.

Demonstrated expertise in Workday Learning (LMS configuration, learning campaigns, programs, and administration).

Hands‑on experience with Workday Talent Management, including Performance, Succession, Career Development, and IDP configuration.

Experience managing data conversion, tenant configuration, smoke testing, and knowledge transfer activities within Workday implementations.

Proven ability to serve as a functional lead or solution architect on enterprise Workday deployments across multiple modules.

Technical Skills

Deep working knowledge of Workday Learning module: learning campaigns, programs, blended learning, SCORM/ xAPI integrations, and third‑party LMS integrations.

Strong proficiency in Workday Talent and Performance: reviews, succession plans, career hubs, merit cycles, and calibration.

Workday HCM Certification strongly preferred. Workday Learning and/or Talent and Performance certifications are highly desirable.

Experience with Workday Recruiting preferred, particularly in connecting talent acquisition to downstream learning and development workflows.

Familiarity with Workday Peakon Employee Voice or similar engagement platforms a plus.

Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, best‑practice Workday configurations.

Soft Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose configuration issues and recommend practical solutions.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills - able to work effectively across HR, IT, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate design sessions, lead requirements workshops, and present complex solutions to non‑technical audiences.

Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver accurate and timely documentation.

Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building collaborative relationships across departments and organizational levels.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of functional workstreams while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Other Skills and Abilities

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a focus on delivering excellent customer service and high‑quality outcomes.

Strong change management instincts - ability to anticipate downstream impacts of configuration decisions and guide stakeholders through transitions with clarity and confidence.

Experience designing and delivering training materials, user guides, and adoption resources for HR technology platforms.

Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, implementation‑oriented environment with shifting priorities and competing demands.
