Job summary

BNSF Railway in Fort Worth, TX, seeks a Sr. Analyst/Asst. Mgr Accounting to support the Cost Recovery Team. The role includes researching contracts, performing audits of receivables/payables, and improving controls within Revenue Management.

Ideal candidates will have 1+ year experience and strong Excel/Office skills, with knowledge of SQL, SAP, Tableau, Power BI, and related tools. Hybrid work options may be available with relocation assistance as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year professional experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of disbursements, accounts payable, revenue, and/or accounts receivable.
  • Experience with SQL, SAP, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI or similar analytical tools.
  • CPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and analysis of contracts, payables, and receivable billing with other railroads, governmental agencies and other entities.
  • Audit receivable and payable projects for completeness, accuracy, and contractual terms.
  • Identify root causes and recommend solutions to improve controls and procedures in Revenue Management.
  • Present audit findings to Finance & Operations management.
  • Identify and develop best practices for contract and invoice audits/reviews.
  • Proactively identify gaps and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and deliver results.
  • Review contracts to analyze terms against performance.
  • Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

This is a full-ti me positionlocated in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal, less than 10%.

Salary range:

1+ years of experience: $72,200 - $93,000

2+ years of experience: $81,500 - $104,000

These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the role’s level, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Key responsibilities may include:

Perform research and analysis of contracts, payables, and receivable billing with other railroads, governmental agencies and other entities. Billing types include construction, train movement and other ancillary charges.

Responsible forconducting audits and related assignments of receivable and payable projects to ensure billed costs are complete, accurate, supportable and within contractual terms.

Identify and quantifyroot causes and recommend solutions to improve controls and current Billable Projects (Revenue Management) procedures and systems.

Presentaudit findings (billing issues, impacts, root causes, solutions) to both Finance & Operations management.

Identify and/or developbest practices for contract & invoice audits/reviews.

Proactive and demonstrate ability to identify potential gaps and opportunities for process improvements.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and deliverresults.

Ability to conduct comprehensive reviews of various types of agreements and analyze contract terms against actual performance and application.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree Accounting, Finance or Business/Operations related field of study

Working knowledge of Disbursements, Accounts Payable, Revenue, and/or Accounts Receivable processes

  • Experience with SQL, SAP, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, or other analytical tools and platforms

Previous audit, forensic accounting or financial analysis experience

  • Active Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)
