Job summary

Tapestry, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Analyst of Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting to support U.S.

GAAP compliance by researching complex standards and leading guidance implementation. The role will evaluate new and existing rules, ensure timely compliance, and align conclusions with evolving standards. The position reports to the Director, Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting and requires strong ASC/SEC knowledge, collaboration with business partners, and ability to manage multiple

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business.
  • MBA and CPA are a plus.
  • Big 4/Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with equity compensation, derivatives/debt, goodwill and indefinite-lived intangibles is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance to support accounting conclusions.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for internal stakeholders on accounting treatment for complex arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies in response to changes in standards and regulation.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and audit documentation.
  • Create training materials to educate internal stakeholders on policy matters.
  • Engage with external auditors and other stakeholders to align on accounting conclusions.
  • Prepare journal entries and disclosures related to equity-based compensation and other complex transactions.

Primary Purpose: The Sr. Analyst of Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting will be critical in supporting the organization's compliance with U.S. GAAP by researching and interpreting complex accounting standards and leading the implementation of new guidance. The Sr. Analyst of Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting will aid in the evaluation and implementation of new and existing accounting rules, ensuring timely compliance. Through developed familiarity with accounting standards, the Sr. Analyst of Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting will help ensure accounting conclusions are aligned with evolving standards. This role reports into the Director, Accounting Policy and Technical Accounting.

  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance to support accounting conclusions.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for internal stakeholders seeking guidance on accounting treatment for unique or unfamiliar arrangements and collaborate with business partners to assess the accounting implications of new contracts, transactions, and business initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures in response to changes impacting accounting standards, the regulatory environment and the Company.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical accounting memos and maintenance of audit documentation.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of training materials educating internal stakeholders on accounting policy matters.
  • Proactively engage with subject matter experts, external auditors, and other stakeholders to align on accounting conclusions and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare journal entries and financial disclosures related to the Company's equity-based compensation, derivative instruments, and other complex or non-routine transactions at period ends.

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business. MBA and CPA are a plus
  • Big 4 Experience and/or Public Accounting experience
  • Experience working with external auditors and managing audit-related technical discussions
  • Familiarity with accounting for equity compensation, derivatives/ debt, goodwill and indefinite-lived intangibles
  • Proficiency with digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with SAP and Workiva are a plus.
