Job summary

FedEx Freight seeks an enterprise MDM leader to design, implement, and modernize master data management across cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks. You will provide technical leadership, set standards, and drive governance, quality, and integration across multiple domains.

The role requires advanced SQL, Java, Python, PySpark, REST APIs, and CI/CD experience, with a focus on scalable data pipelines and enterprise integration patterns. Hybrid Memphis, TN office with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience designing and implementing enterprise data management, integration, and analytics solutions.
  • Five (5) years of hands-on experience implementing and supporting Master Data Management platforms.
  • Experts in matching, survivorship, hierarchy management, stewardship, and governance workflows in MDM.
  • Strong experience with Azure, Fabric, Foundry, Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design, configuration, and implementation of Master Data Management solutions across multiple domains.
  • Design and implement entity models, hierarchies, matching rules, survivorship strategies, stewardship workflows, and governance processes.
  • Develop scalable data ingestion, synchronization, publishing, and distribution pipelines.
  • Architect and implement API-driven, event-based, real-time integration solutions using cloud-native technologies.
  • Drive data quality initiatives including profiling, rules, monitoring, and remediation workflows.
  • Establish development standards, DevOps processes, and operational procedures for reliability and scalability.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and mentor engineers to improve delivery and operations.
  • Own the technical roadmap, platform strategy, and lifecycle management for MDM capabilities.
  • Partner with architects, stakeholders, product teams, and data governance for alignment with business goals.
  • Design and oversee integration for Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, data products, and analytics platforms.
  • Create reusable frameworks for data onboarding, sharing, stewardship, and quality management.
  • Ensure MDM practices align with security, privacy, governance, and regulatory requirements.

Job description

In this role, you will lead enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) design, implementation, and ongoing modernization using cloud-based data platforms. You will provide technical leadership across MDM architecture, data quality, integration, governance enablement, and day-to-day operational practices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, configuration, and implementation of Master Data Management solutions across multiple business domains.
  • Design and implement entity models, hierarchies, matching rules, survivorship strategies, stewardship workflows, and governance processes to support trusted master data assets.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion, synchronization, publishing, and distribution pipelines between enterprise source and target systems.
  • Architect and implement API-driven, event-based, and real-time integration solutions using cloud-native technologies and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Drive enterprise data quality initiatives, including data profiling, rules implementation, monitoring, exception management, and remediation workflows.
  • Establish development standards, best practices, DevOps processes, and operational procedures to support MDM platform reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership by coaching and directing engineers, developers, and administrators to improve technical excellence, delivery, and operations for enterprise data management and integration solutions.
  • Own the technical roadmap, platform strategy, and lifecycle management for enterprise MDM capabilities.
  • Partner with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, product teams, and data governance organizations to align master data capabilities with business objectives.
  • Design and oversee integration architectures supporting Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, operational applications, data products, and analytics platforms.
  • Create reusable frameworks and patterns for data onboarding, data sharing, data stewardship, data quality management, and master data syndication.
  • Ensure master data practices align with enterprise security, privacy, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance data accuracy, consistency, usability, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices related to MDM, data governance, data quality, and cloud data platforms.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing matching, survivorship, hierarchy management, stewardship, and governance workflows within an enterprise MDM environment.
  • Strong experience developing cloud-native data solutions using Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Foundry, Databricks, or comparable modern data platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Java, JSON, Spring, Python, and PySpark.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including conceptual, logical, and physical data design.
  • Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines, version control practices, and automated deployment frameworks using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, provide architectural guidance, mentor engineers, and establish engineering standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing and operating enterprise-grade data quality, governance, and data stewardship programs.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to business and executive audiences.

Location and Work Model

Memphis, TN (hybrid)

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment.
  • Must be able to travel as required to support business and project initiatives.
Remote/Hybrid Eligibility Requirements
  • If located outside the Harrison, AR and Memphis, TN areas, eligibility to work remotely requires residing within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental U.S.
  • If located in the Memphis, TN or Harrison, AR areas, a hybrid schedule is required, working three days per week in the office.
Compensation
  • Pay Range: USD 103,880 - 181,790 per year
