ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a strategic content leader to develop and manage content strategies for fundraising programs. You will guide writers, editors, and designers to produce compelling materials that support donor acquisition, retention, and major gifts.

Responsible for the research, development, and creation of strategic communication strategies that support ALSAC fundraising goals. Manages the day-to-day activities associated with the development of content strategies for marketing programs that support ALSAC fundraising efforts. This includes content package development for multi-channel, traditional, and non-traditional planned giving and direct response marketing programs, as well as working with internal and external teams to develop and execute content strategies that ensure program objectives are met. Supports audience-centric acquisition, retention, reactivation, and donor engagement goals.
Strategic Content Leadership Uses extensive fundraising knowledge, along with a high degree of concentration, judgment, and autonomy, to develop content strategies that lead to the production of clear, persuasive writing for a wide variety of collateral, letters, proposals, reports, and other materials used to generate leads for planned and major gifts and to cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects, donors, and foundations. Synthesizes complex planned giving, scientific, and medical information, including hospital research and care initiatives, and translates it into persuasive and engaging language for donor audiences. Models industry best-practice writing and messaging approaches for planned giving. Ensures all content adheres to established style guides, brand standards, and messaging guidelines.
Analyzes and interprets current and historical results and data to develop and advise on strategic content direction that supports short- and long-term fundraising objectives. Monitors market trends, conducts competitive analyses, researches industry studies, and tracks sister charity fundraising efforts. Focuses on continual improvement through process evaluations, recommendations, and testing of new strategies. Recommends testing, retesting, or rollouts based on performance and results.
Works closely with partners to understand strategic priorities and initiatives and translates St. Jude breakthroughs into fundraising strategies. Communicates content strategies to internal and external teams, keeping stakeholders informed of project progress, changes, and challenges while soliciting feedback and buy‑in. Collaborates effectively with writers, graphic designers, production coordinators, and project managers in the development and execution of fundraising strategies.
Reviews, proofreads, and revises content throughout the development and routing process, ensuring accuracy, consistency, readability, clarity, adherence to strategy, and overall quality. Ensures all requested revisions are incorporated during the approval process and that final content is complete and ready for deployment.
Trains, advises, and assists writers in creating strategic, revenue-generating, and lead-generating content to support fundraising objectives. Helps train new team members and provides guidance regarding strategy, administration, procedures, policies, analysis, and communication. Responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of executive and boutique correspondence to assigned VIP and prospective donors.
Oversees the execution of assigned area plans to ensure alignment with business objectives and to strengthen the fundraising efforts of St. Jude in a meaningful and impactful way. Represents ALSAC-St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in a manner that reflects positively on both the hospital and fundraising organization.
Knowledge of proofreading, editing, creative writing, communications, and/or marketing. Strong analytical skills. Thorough knowledge of English spelling, grammar, and usage. Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines. Ability to speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal and external audiences. Ability to understand and interpret complex verbal and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence others.
Bachelor's degree or more than seven (7) years of experience. This position is based at ALSAC’s National Executive Office in Memphis, TN and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
