You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Process Development
  • Develop, validate and implement sustainable, robust and reliable manufacturing processes, equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Lead mechanical design and analysis of machine structures, mechanisms, tooling, fixtures, workholding, guarding, piping systems and process equipment.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals including statics, dynamics, strength of materials, machine design, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to manufacturing applications.
  • Create and review engineering calculations, equipment specifications, design packages, tolerance analyses and technical documentation.
  • Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent engineering software to develop layouts, models, drawings and design concepts.
  • Provide strong emphasis on fixture and gaging design, development, validation and implementation for safe, repeatable process performance.
  • Use prototyping and structured testing methods to develop engineering samples, verify design intent and reduce technical risk.
  • Partner with New Product Development engineers to evaluate product designs and recommend improvements for manufacturability, assembly, quality and cost.
  • Lead equipment suppliers and integrators in the development and delivery of custom manufacturing solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and breakthrough processes that create a competitive manufacturing advantage.
Fluid Dynamics and Process Utility Systems
  • Serve as the technical lead for industrial fluid systems involving compressed air, nitrogen, natural gas or propane, water, coolant, lubricants, hydraulic systems, vacuum and process exhaust, as applicable.
  • Perform and document fluid-system calculations including flow rate, pressure drop, velocity, line sizing, Cv, regulator and valve selection, pump or compressor requirements and system capacity.
  • Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, utility schematics, equipment specifications and installation requirements.
  • Select and specify piping, tubing, fittings, valves, regulators, filters, flowmeters, pressure instruments, pumps and other fluid-handling components for compatibility, capacity, accuracy and maintainability.
  • Assess fluid-system behavior across normal operating conditions, startup, shutdown, upset conditions and process extremes.
  • Lead troubleshooting of insufficient flow, pressure instability, contamination, leakage, excessive pressure drop, heat generation, cavitation and other fluid-system performance issues.
  • Plan and execute validation testing to confirm fluid delivery, repeatability, process capability and equipment performance against defined acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure designs incorporate appropriate risk controls, maintainability, isolation points and applicable environmental, health and safety requirements in partnership with EHS and facility stakeholders.
Electrical Controls and PLC Support
  • Provide supporting electrical-controls expertise for machine integration, commissioning and troubleshooting; this is a secondary responsibility to mechanical and fluid-system ownership.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, control panel layouts, I/O drawings, network architecture and device documentation.
