Job summary

Resideo is seeking a Sr. Advanced Embedded Engineer to shape intelligent embedded systems powering our next-generation smart home devices.

You will design, implement, test, and maintain firmware with AI-driven features, collaborating with hardware, software, AI data teams and product managers. You will work on bare-metal and RTOS environments, ensure safety-critical compliance, and guide prototyping, verification, and certification efforts across firmware and connected components.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in embedded development, debugging, and testing.
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded targets.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled firmware on devices or cloud.
• Experience with bare-metal and RTOS systems (FreeRTOS, embedded Linux, etc.).
• Skilled with electronic test equipment and embedded debugging tools.
• Deep knowledge of MCU architectures and peripherals.
• Familiar with wireless protocols and secure firmware practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems, including drivers and HALs.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, data/AI, and product teams on system design and bring-up.
• Design and implement safety-critical features to satisfy regulatory standards and support certification.
• Engage with clients in technical discussions, design reviews, and project meetings.
• Refine requirements, provide estimates, track schedules, and communicate progress.
• Prototype new concepts to assess feasibility early in the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture notes and test plans.
• Support system integration and verification across firmware, hardware, and connected components.

Job Duties

• Develop embedded firmware for both bare‑metal and RTOS‑based systems, including low‑level drivers, hardware abstraction layers, control algorithms, and application‑level functionality.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineering on system design, board bring‑up, schematic/PCB reviews, electrical debugging, and integrated system testing.
• Design and implement safety‑critical features to satisfy applicable regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 60730) and support certification activities.
• Directly engage with clients, participating in technical discussions, design reviews, and recurring project status meetings.
• Work with project management and product management to refine requirements, provide estimates, track schedules, and communicate development progress.
• Prototype new concepts to assess feasibility and guide design decisions early in the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture descriptions, design notes, test plans, certification artifacts, and engineering reports.
• Support system integration and verification, troubleshooting issues across firmware, hardware, and connected components.

You Must Have

• 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development, debugging, and testing
• Strong embedded C/C++ proficiency
• Familiarity with developing firmware that interacts with AI/ML pipelines, both on‑device and through cloud connectivity.
• Experience with bare‑metal systems and/or RTOS‑based designs (FreeRTOS, internal schedulers, embedded Linux, etc.)
• Experience with electronic test equipment and embedded debug and test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, hardware debuggers, etc.)
• Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures, peripheral subsystems, and low‑level interface design across multiple MCU families.
• Experience with communication protocols such as Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, Z‑Wave, Thread, Matter, HomeKit, etc.
• Understanding of cybersecurity considerations and secure firmware development practices
