SumBridge is hiring a Sr. Accountant to join our accounting services based client in a new role adding capacity to their growing team. The client firm is a small and rapidly growing business working within the public accounting space. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to: preparation of journal entries, reconciliation work, financial statement preparation, payroll processing, excise tax filing and other accounting functions as assigned. This role is FULLY REMOTE, needs to sit within WA or TN. The role offers competitive compensation and benefits.
Job Responsibilities:
- Preparation all financial tasks for Manager and/or Partner review, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and full balance sheet reconciliations in QuickBooks Online (QBO), while maintaining separate internal schedules and reconciliations for accuracy.
- Prepare, reconcile, and import transactions from merchant service platforms such as Benevity, YourCause, Blackbaud, RunSignUp, Shopify, Square, Stripe, and others, ensuring all data is accurately captured and processed.
- Prepare and execute payroll on bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly basis, ensuring payroll processing is accurate and verifying tax filings for compliance.
- Prepare and submit state and city excise tax filings, along with managing associated licenses and ensuring timely compliance with regulations.
- Strong mastery of accrual accounting is required, with significant experience in full accrual accounting cycles, including preparing and producing accurate financial statements. While ongoing training will be provided, candidates must have a solid foundation in accrual principles.
- Serve as the first-level client contact, responding promptly to client inquiries and escalating more complex issues internally when needed.
- Collaborate with our team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial reports and other key deliverables. Efficiently manage your workload, escalate tasks as appropriate, prepare thorough workpapers, and remain open to constructive feedback and mentorship for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate curiosity and flexibility, understanding that clients may face challenging situations where they need extra support. Be ready to step in and work alongside them, navigating through difficulties and providing hands-on assistance to help them succeed.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience with a BA/BS in Accounting or a related field. Proven track record of managing financial processes in a professional setting. Nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing multiple clients simultaneously, overseeing their financial operations, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) for managing general ledger accounts, financial reporting, and resolving technical issues. Expert in Excel, with strong skills in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Extensive knowledge of integrated technology platforms such as ADP, BILL, BILL Spend and Expense, Transaction Pro, Fathom, and other related systems.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles including GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and the preparation of accurate financial statements.
- Experience in managing extensive datasets with precision, ensuring data integrity and streamlined reporting processes.
- Skilled in financial statement analysis, able to critically assess and interpret balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to identify trends and provide insights.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and integrate various software applications, adapting quickly to new technology and systems in a dynamic work environment. Preferred experience with Trello, Canopy, Calendly and Teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial data and collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Compensation: $70-85k
