Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage monthly close, financial reporting, and related general ledger activities in a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on reconciliations, journal entries, and adherence to US GAAP.

Responsibilities include coordinating with external auditors, assisting in budgets and forecasts, and mentoring junior staff. Strong Excel, GAAP, and ERP/MRP experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of senior accounting or supervisory experience.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and experience with GL functions and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and variance analyses for $50M in revenue for a manufacturing company.
  • Maintain, reconcile, and manage the general ledger and sub-ledgers with proper support for financials.
  • Support timely month/year-end close processes.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, prepare documentation, and resolve findings.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, systems, and controls.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Train, mentor, and review work of junior staff.

Job description

SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing all processes related to monthly accounting close and financial reporting. This includes the preparation of account reconciliations and monthly close journal entries, and ensuring all transactions are recorded in the general ledger based on US GAAP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and variance analyses for $50M in revenue manufacturing company
  • General Ledger: Maintain, reconcile, and manage the general ledger and sub-ledgers, ensuring the financials are properly supported.
  • Month/Year-End Close: Support timely closing processes.
  • Audits: Coordinate with external auditors, prepare documentation, and resolve findings.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and cash flow management.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement accounting policies, systems, and controls.
  • AP/AR: Support accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Staff Support: Train, mentor, and review work of junior staff.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience as a senior or accounting supervisor, 3+ years in accounting.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge, experience with GL functions, ERP/MRP systems, advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
