Job summary

Mikeamiri is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and to support monthly close, retail operations, and reporting.

You will partner with cross-functional teams, manage close processes, and drive process improvements to support growth and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion, or consumer goods industries.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules per GAAP.
  • Prepare financial analyses and variance explanations to aid reporting and decisions.
  • Reconcile retail sales, cash, and other balance sheet accounts; resolve discrepancies with store operations.
  • Manage fixed assets, accruals, intercompany transactions, and general ledger accounts.
  • Support retail accounting activities including chargeback resolution and store inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax, licenses, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Retail Operations to ensure accurate transactions.
  • Assist external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.

Job description

Purpose and Objective

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial records, supporting the monthly close process, retail accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Execute the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare financial analyses and variance explanations to support accurate financial reporting and management decision-making.
  • Reconcile retail sales, cash, credit card transactions, and other key balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies with store operations.
  • Manage fixed assets, accruals, intercompany transactions, employee expense reports, and other assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Support retail accounting activities, including chargeback resolution, store inquiries, and customer payment, refund, and accounting-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax, business licenses, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Retail Operations, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support the company’s continued growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion, or consumer goods industries.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA track preferred.
