Ria Money Transfer, a leading payments and money transfer provider, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to lead activity-based costing across channels. You will drive data-driven insights, automate processes with AI, and partner with Controllers and business leaders to optimize cost allocation and profitability.

The role requires 5+ years in cost or FP&A, advanced Excel, and experience with ERP and BI tools. Hybrid work arrangements and a strong benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, management accounting, FP&A, profitability analysis, or related area.
• Designing, implementing, or rebuilding an activity-based costing or cost allocation framework.
• Experience using AI tools in a finance or accounting context.
• Advanced Excel skills and data analysis with large datasets.
• Experience with ERP and BI platforms (Power BI/Tableau).
• Ability to explain allocation methodologies to non-finance stakeholders.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role will lead the development of our activity-based costing and channel profitability framework, helping the business better understand the true cost of operations across functions and channels. The ideal candidate will combine strong cost accounting expertise, analytical thinking, and innovative use of AI-enabled tools to deliver meaningful financial insights and support business growth.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain an activity-based costing framework that establishes the cost per activity for each support function.
• Design, document, and maintain the methodology cost allocations methods
• Identify and validate appropriate cost drivers and establish repeatable sourcing of driver data from the relevant systems of record.
• Apply AI tools to automate and accelerate data preparation, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting within the cost accounting cycle.
• Partner with function leads, Controllers, and channel owners to review results and agree on cost assumptions.
• Present methodology and findings to Finance leadership and refine the approach as the business evolves.
• Maintain documentation to a standard that satisfies internal and external audit requirements.
• Support ad hoc profitability studies, cost analyses, and business cases as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, management accounting, FP&A, profitability analysis, or a related area, including hands‑on ownership of a cost allocation or overhead absorption model.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or materially rebuilding an activity‑based costing or cost allocation framework, rather than solely operating or maintaining an existing model.
• Practical, demonstrable experience using AI tools, including large language models, AI‑enabled analytics, or automation platforms, in a finance or accounting context.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities, with experience working with large datasets from multiple source systems.
• Experience with a major ERP system and a BI or data visualization platform, such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain allocation methodologies and effectively communicate the rationale for driver selections to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and operate effectively with limited precedent in an ambiguous, build‑from‑scratch environment.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across functions, regions, and legal entities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CMA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience in payments, money transfer, fintech, banking, retail, or another high‑volume, multi‑channel transaction environment.
• Experience with multi‑entity and multi‑currency environments, including intercompany or transfer‑pricing cost allocations.
• Experience supporting shared services, offshoring, or process automation business cases.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Ria Money Transfer offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The reasonable estimated pay for this (Salary Exempt or Non-exempt hourly rate)role ranges from ($85,000USD to $115,000USD).
