Senior Account Director, Business Development (Real-world Evidence/Non-interventional Studies)
Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a global leader in scientific research and innovation, as a Senior Account Director in our Business Development team. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to work remotely while making a significant impact in the field of Real-world Evidence (RWE) and Non-interventional Studies (NIS). Internally, our commercial team are valued as subject matter experts (SMEs) in building strong client partnerships. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with top scientific and operational experts, empowering them to excel with our clients and drive impactful results.
Externally, you will serve as a trusted advisor on the design, conduct, and utilization of non-interventional studies to assist clients in addressing research questions through PPD’s unique RWE/D offerings.
Essential Functions:
- Spearhead new business development and customer growth across pharmaceutical/biotech clients, aiming to expand the pipeline and meet authorization targets.
- Collaborate with the account team and SMEs to create strategic account plans based on a thorough understanding of client needs. Define priorities and engagement strategies to drive action.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with client stakeholders by positioning yourself as a trusted advisor. Share insights on industry trends and PPD’s capabilities.
- Lead cross-functional teams of SMEs to promote PPD’s full range of products and services.
- Contribute to proposal development and client presentations, lead bid defense meetings, and support contract negotiations for new business growth.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records in Salesforce (CRM).
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant academic or vocational qualifications.
- 5-10 years of experience selling real-world solutions and consultancy services to medical affairs, safety, clinical development, market access, and HEOR clients.
- Strong understanding of drug development principles, lifecycle, biopharma/biotech priorities, and related needs.
- Experience with the Challenger Sales Model is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of RWE / RWD trends and advancements.
- Proven experience in lead generation, professional presentations, managing sales processes, and contract negotiations.
- Successful project management across multidisciplinary teams.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Occasional travel (25-50%), including domestic and international trips.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Stationary work for 6-8 hours daily.
- Repetitive hand movements with the ability to perform quick, simple finger, hand, and wrist movements.
- Frequent mobility and occasional crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting.
- Light to moderate lifting (up to 20 lbs.), including luggage and laptops.
- Proficiency in computer software, both in-house and off-the-shelf.
- Clear communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse groups and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform under stress, multi-task, and adapt to changing demands.
- Consistent attendance is required.
