Job description

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a skilled and versatile Senior 3D (Games) Artist with expertise in 3D modeling, technical art, VFX, animation, and more. In this role, you’ll be working on our new open world game Argos helmed by Warren Spector, and while we can’t tell you much at this time, you’ll be working with a space whale!

You'll be responsible for transforming prototype features into polished player experiences, working on models, materials, asset kits, blueprints, particle systems, and other essential elements of the entire art pipeline.

We’re a small team, so you’ll have tons of opportunity to work closely with designers, engineers, and other artists to ensure a cohesive and visually compelling experience. If you’re adaptable, creative, and passionate about bringing unique game environments to life, with a strong eye for detail and an understanding of optimizing assets for performance without sacrificing quality, we’d love to talk!

You’ll report into our Lead Artist, and being a generalist, you’ll have your hands on multiple parts of the game and a ton of portfolio pieces when you’re done!

Job Responsibilities

As a generalist, you’ll be working on a little of this and a little of that, but if we had to put it into bullet points here’s some of the focus:

  • Create high quality 3D assets for use in a variety of gameplay scenarios, in a semi-procedurally generated world
  • Take prototype features to shippable quality. Collaborate with other artists and designers, and plan out assets needed to complete features
  • Work with our Art Lead to help identify necessary workflow and pipeline improvements
  • Collaborate with our small but mighty team to make sure a breadth of content is optimized for performance on multiple platforms

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of game art experience, ideally with shipped work on colorful, stylized projects
  • Strong art fundamentals with regards to composition, color and design. Some concept art experience, we don’t need you to be an expert, but being able to take an idea to a concept to show to the team is great.
  • A portfolio that shows your prior work showcasing a stylized, colorful work. This can be everything from creatures to environments.
  • Able to drive modeling, animation or effects features. We’re looking for someone that can do a bit of everything, but specializes in one of those two areas, ideally.
  • Experience in Blender, Maya or related software
  • Prior experience working in Unreal
  • Prior knowledge working across different art disciplines or pipelines (i.e. Characters, Animation, Environments, VFX)
  • Able to prototype quickly in Unrea
  • Version Control experience (Perforce)
  • Must reside in the United States or Canada

Bonus

  • Art direction and leadership experience
  • Unreal Blueprint experience
  • Other generalist skills: concept art, character animation, etc
  • Video capture, video production experience
  • Experience working on multi-platform games
  • Indie game experience
