Peak Utility Infrastructure is seeking a Safety, Quality and Training Trainer II to develop and deliver safety and technical training for our workforce. You will create facilitator guides, participant materials, and assessments to ensure staff are educated on safety protocols and OSHA standards.

You will work with the Training Manager to implement and enforce safety programs across the organization, coordinate field training, and evaluate training effectiveness while maintaining accurate records

Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two+ years as a Safety Trainer preferred.
  • Two+ years’ experience operating heavy equipment.
  • CDL class A preferred.
  • Two+ years’ experience as a Technical Trainer preferred.
  • Two+ years of administrative experience in training or safety.
  • Experience in utility industry preferred.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 per year

Essential Functions:

TheSQT Trainer II participates in and conducts heavy equipment operator training programs. Will identify and facilitate training objectives and write training programs, including facilitator guides, participant guides, pre and post assessments, and any supporting media. The SQT Trainer II ensures that all employees are safe from dangers and are educated well on handling safety concerns and problems. Alongside this, the Safety Trainer properly educates and informs all company employees on the company's safety protocols and procedures. It is the safety trainer's responsibility to work closely with the Training Manager on how they will be able to conduct and enforce safety program throughout their organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and maintains facilitator materials, session plans, visual aids and handouts for training sessions.
  • Conducts safety and technical training for employees upon hire and on periodical schedule.
  • Interprets and enforces health and safety programs to drive continuous improvement and a culture consistent with your company values.
  • Coordinates with supervisors and employees to ensure that required field training is implemented.
  • Coordinates with the Training Manager to design training materials and courses.
  • Evaluates and modifies existing training solutions, techniques, and materials.
  • Communicates and represents the organization to clients, the public, government, and other external sources.
  • Maintains user accounts in third-party databases.
  • Conducts driving evaluations in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Schedule and provides Operator Qualification training for new hires, and current employees on an as needed basis.
  • Track all Operator's Qualifications using a 3rd party database.
  • Conducts knowledge and performance post training field evaluations.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of best practices, standards, guidelines, technology, and equipment.
  • Accepts and processes all PPE orders and excavation damage call-ins, to include generating damage reports.
  • Administers employee record systems to include quality audits, operator qualification training, safety and quality training and maintenance of employee records.
  • Performs routine filing, scanning, and archiving of records to ensure record retention compliance.
  • Prepares statistical data and compiles reports (internal and external reports) on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis; maintains other records, reports, and logs pertaining to SQT programs.
  • Develops and creates monthly, quarterly, or annual OSHA record keeping reports using Excel computer programs to extract, summarize, and present statistical data accurately from numerous sources.
  • Performs data entry to maintain employee training records in company and vendor systems.
  • Conducts data exports and imports as required; resolves errors and record discrepancies.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Coordinates meetings, events, and activities for the SQ department staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to conduct training protocols by description based on safety, quality, and health programs, procedures, and practices consistent with OSHA, DOT, insurance carriers, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to enforce audit protocols to safety and quality programs.
  • Ability to re-enforce a safety culture based upon modifying behaviors, including methods of improvement related to behavior-based safety, near miss management, quality, claims review, post-accident investigation and adverse employee behavioral patterns.
  • Ability to train and audit complex regulations, technologies, management systems, and programs.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
  • Experience in the utility industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.

  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.

Experience and Education:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Two (2+) plus years of experience as a Safety Trainer is preferred.
  • Class A CDL Preferred.
  • Two (2+) plus years’ experience operating heavy equipment is required.
  • Two (2+) plus years’ experience as a Technical Trainer is preferred.
  • Two (2+) plus years of administrative experience in the training or safety field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
  • Experience working with utility industry and underground utilities required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Possess OSHA 10 and or OSHA 30, or willingness to acquire certificates.
