Job summary

Insight Global in Chicago is seeking a seasoned SQL Developer/DBA for an on-site contract. The role blends database development and administration across two strategic initiatives: migrating legacy data to a modern SQL Server environment and designing a cloud-based data warehouse to enable scalable reporting and analytics.

The candidate will manage ETL, data modeling, and performance tuning while handling maintenance, security, and backup/recovery in both on-prem and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

Job description

5+ years of experience as a SQL Developer / DBA

Strong SQL Server development skills (stored procedures, views, functions, query optimization)

Experience with database administration, including performance tuning, monitoring, backup/recovery, and security

Hands-on experience with ETL, data warehousing, and data modeling

Experience supporting database migrations and legacy system modernization

Experience with on-prem SQL Server and at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience building or supporting cloud-based data warehouses

Power BI, SSRS, or other reporting platforms

Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and database deployment automation

Experience with high availability/disaster recovery (Always On, clustering, replication)
