Job description

Our work depends on a SQL Database Administrator joining our IT Technology Development division in Quantico, VA.

HOW OUR SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

As the SQL DBA Administrator, you will manage all current and planned SQL Server databases that support our customer’s COTS applications. You will also be part of a team of systems administrators managing Windows Server 2016-2019, desktops, and printers. In addition:

  1. You will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of these databases. If additional databases are required in the future, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing those databases, including database creation, security, access, backup and recovery, and documentation.
  2. You must be experienced with applying STIGs to SQL Server databases and be familiar with the impacts on the related applications.
  3. You must have excellent documentation skills, and will be responsible for creating related standards, operating procedures, and security documentation.
  4. Database monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and tuning.
  5. Perform administration and management of Microsoft SQL Server 2012-2019 and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
  6. Familiar with SQL Always-on setup and management and Microsoft Failover Clustering.
  7. Perform day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
  8. Perform database and system performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
  9. Database backup and recovery - Develop, document, and apply procedures for database backup and recovery.
  10. Perform scheduled and nonscheduled database backups and recovery with Microsoft SQL Server SSMS, or SQL CMD.
  11. Participate in the analysis of database solutions - Responsible for the definition, design, creation, and implementation of a database environment with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security.
  12. Evaluate and install new software releases, patches, and system upgrades.
  13. Identify and troubleshoot system issues.
  14. Develop, document, and apply procedures for systems backup and recovery.
  15. May program in an administrative language (PowerShell, VBS, etc.).
  16. Perform ACAS and SCAP scans and remediation.
  17. Assist Tier 2 help desk with issues elevated to systems administrators.
  18. Create and update user accounts, perform accounts management in Active Directory.
  19. Support the Certification and Accreditation process - run scans; resolve findings; document solutions, workarounds or provide justifications for exceptions.
  20. Document, implement, and maintain database security policies in accordance with DISA STIG requirements.
  21. Define and oversee database standards, controls, procedures, and documentation.
  22. Create all documentation required for Release Management Framework (RMF).
  23. Complete planning and documentation prior to new integration or implementation.
  24. Other SQL DBA duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):
  1. Security Clearance Level: Active Secret clearance; Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  2. 5+ years of work experience administering MS SQL Server databases (SQL 2012 or newer).
  3. Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption in SQL Server.
  4. Experience administering SQL Server 2012-2019.
  5. Required Certifications: Security+ CE.
  6. Education: BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  7. Location: Onsite at Quantico, VA.
  8. US Citizenship required.
WHAT WE'D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE (Preferred):
  1. Active Top Secret clearance.
  2. Microsoft Server 2016 or higher.
  3. Microsoft SQL 2016 -2019.
