Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries, the world’s largest furniture manufacturer, seeks a Database Administrator to manage and optimize our Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, test, and production. You will ensure security, backups, and performance while collaborating with application, development, and infrastructure teams.

This role requires 3+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience, scripting skills (T-SQL, PowerShell), and familiarity with other RDBMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 3+ years hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of database backup and recovery strategies.
• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in T-SQL for querying, scripting, and automation.
• Familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience in ITIL-based incident and change management environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, test, and production.
• Provide support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL and other RDBMS as needed.
• Ensure database availability, security, and integrity across environments.
• Manage access controls, permissions, and security compliance.
• Perform backups, index maintenance, and statistics updates.
• Handle deployments following change management procedures.
• Respond to incidents within SLA and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with application, development, and infrastructure teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
• Document resolutions and maintain a knowledge base.
