Position Summary

As a supervisor, your role is to provide inspired leadership, technical and administrative oversight for a team of claims adjusters/examiners responsible for the adjudication and settlement of minor to moderate complexity first-party property claims through efficient and compassionate service. Your responsibilities will include coaching and mentoring team members to achieve company goals and to ensure all activity and file handling is consistent with company policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines. The role supports continuous development of team members in pursuing their career goals. The Supervisor manages staffing levels and workloads while monitoring attendance, personnel issues, performance evaluations, interviewing, and completing the disciplinary action process.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise the professional staff in handling property claims within the specified unit by assigning losses, reviewing investigations, evaluations, demands, and settlement authority, providing guidance, and recommending action plans.
  • Assist in developing branch objectives, procedures, and operations; analyze results and take actions to improve performance and productivity.
  • Help direct the claims branch to minimize indemnity and expense impact, ensure proper reserve levels, and implement claims policies and procedures.
  • Maintain performance records and prepare management reports on unit operations, production, and expenses.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by Property Claims professionals and address escalated customer issues.
  • Review and approve vendor utilization for investigative purposes to control expenses.
  • Represent the company in relationships with consumers, government agencies, vendors, and agents.
  • Screen files for coverage issues, fraud, or questionable activity, and transfer files for further investigation as needed.
  • Review team member work quality and service interactions through ride-alongs, file reviews, etc.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired
  • Ability to obtain state-specific property claims licensing, where required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years related property claims industry experience preferred
  • Or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Prior experience leading a team is preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to interpret estimates on industry software
  • Experience with virtual inspection tools
  • In-depth knowledge of company policies, procedures, and insurance operations
  • Strong technical, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Leadership and motivational skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and develop departmental goals
