LOCATION OF POSITION

301 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201

POSITION DUTIES

The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking individuals to work at the SPS Help Desk to assist with system user support calls. Successful candidates will function in a support role in the Division and should be able to work independently.

Specifically, duties involve resetting system passwords, guiding employees through system processes, following up to ensure issues are resolved, and providing feedback about the system.

This is a temporary position starting in September 2025 and ending in December 2025. Core work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with an 8-hour workday. This position is remote, and work equipment is provided.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes

  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations, in accordance with agency laws and policies, on a year-for-year basis.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications. Please include clear and specific information about your qualifications in your application:

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Previous help desk support experience
  • Current software experience with Google
  • Proficiency at an intermediate level in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  • Experience researching materials online, explaining processes to others, and interest in learning new software applications
  • Team player
  • Customer-focused with a sense of urgency to resolve issues
  • Well organized, self-starter eager to take on new challenges
  • Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and maturity

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

Employees may be required to operate a motor vehicle. If so, a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland is required.

Selection Process

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and will remain on the eligible list for at least one year.
