Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Sprinkler Installer III to join our field team in the United States. You will perform hands-on installation of fire protection piping and sprinkler systems on commercial and industrial projects, focusing on safety, quality, and timely completion.

You will work with apprentices and supervisors to ensure accurate work, maintain documentation, and adapt to changing jobsite needs while upholding strong teamwork and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of sprinkler installation experience.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform physical labor.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install fire protection piping, valves and sprinkler accessories for commercial/industrial sites.
  • Install wet, dry, pre-action and deluge sprinkler systems efficiently and neatly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of work performed.
  • Follow safety policies and perform duties in a safe, professional manner.
  • Provide guidance to apprentices and support their development.
  • Handle equipment up to 70 lbs and work in varying positions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and adapt to field conditions.

Role Overview

As a Sprinkler Installer III, you will perform hands-on installation work on fire protection piping and sprinkler systems, complete your work accurately, and contribute to safe, professional project execution. Success in this role comes from solid trade skills, clear communication, and the ability to adapt to changing jobsite needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the installation of fire protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Install wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems efficiently and neatly.
  • Maintain proper documentation for work performed and keep records accurate and current.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures and perform all duties in a safe and professional manner.
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to apprentices and support their development on the job.
  • Carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Perform physical labor and work in unusual or difficult positions, including ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout the project.
  • Work alternative shifts or weekends when customer or job requirements call for it.

  • Own your work by completing each task safely, professionally, and with accountability.
  • Stay close to the jobsite details and focus on the work that keeps the project moving for the customer.
  • Use clear verbal and written communication when receiving instructions, documenting work, and guiding apprentices.
  • Look for practical ways to improve each day through candor, problem-solving, and attention to workmanship.
  • Work as one team with installers, apprentices, and supervisors, and bring a positive, adaptable attitude to changing field conditions.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.93-$32.87 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
