Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an inspector to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical and life-safety sprinkler systems. The role requires hands-on work, reading blueprints, and the ability to handle physical tasks daily.

You will document deficiencies, maintain a structured inspection schedule, and assist in installing wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems. Flexibility for on-call hours and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of documented experience in sprinkler systems.
  • Able to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
  • Experience with wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, and foam systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  • Capable of carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual positions including ladders, scaffolding and high lift up to 40 feet.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test life safety systems, and perform preventive maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression lines.
  • Document deficiencies accurately during inspections.
  • Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding using communication devices.
  • Follow a structured inspection schedule and complete inspections on time.
  • Assist foreman in installation of sprinkler systems.
  • Perform physical labor and operate ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment.
  • Carry/move equipment and tools up to 70 lbs as needed.

What you will do

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing, installing and preventative maintenance of life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturer's product line.
  • Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through communicating devices, such as laptop computers, smartphones, and/or hardcopy.
  • Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
  • Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.
  • Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor.
  • Assist foreman in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
What we look for

  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
Compensation

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $22-29 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
