Johnson Controls is seeking a Sprinkler Inspector III to perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on sprinkler and suppression life safety systems. You will document deficiencies, maintain accurate records, and support field operations with hands-on service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of documented experience in sprinkler systems.
• Ability to obtain and retain licenses required by National/State/Local codes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics, and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50–70 lbs.
• Ability to work in ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment up to 40 feet and in ducts/crawl spaces.

Role Overview As a Sprinkler Inspector III, you will perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on sprinkler and suppression systems, document deficiencies clearly, and help keep life safety systems operating as intended. This role combines technical inspection work, accurate recordkeeping, customer service, and hands‑on support in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on sprinkler and suppression life safety product lines and similar competitive manufacturers' product lines.
• Accurately identify, document, and communicate deficiencies found during inspections.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements and inspection records with proper coding using laptop computers, smartphones, or hardcopy documentation.
• Follow a highly structured inspection schedule and complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected when authorized.
• Assist the foreman in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
• Use hand tools, testing equipment, and multi-meters to support inspection and troubleshooting work.
• Work safely in challenging field conditions, including ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, and other physically demanding environments.

Use the right documentation method for each visit, whether through laptop, smartphone, or hardcopy, so inspection records are complete and easy to follow.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of documented experience in sprinkler systems.
• Ability to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics, and operational/product manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Ability to perform physical labor and carry or move equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, as well as working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends, to meet customer requirements.
• Demonstrated high level of customer service.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.

Nice to Have

• Experience with wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, and foam systems.
• NICET certification or state equivalency.
• Repair experience and additional troubleshooting experience in sprinkler systems.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.93-$32.89 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
