Job summary

HDR is seeking a Springfield Roadway Intern to gain real-world experience by applying standard Engineering techniques and preparing technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations. You will work under a senior Engineer to assist with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects and engage with recent graduates through mentoring programs.

You will also participate in transportation planning efforts across modes, and contribute to HDR’s employee-owned culture and collaborative

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard Engineering techniques and procedures through creation and submission of technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations.
  • Assist senior Engineer with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects.
  • Participate in mentoring programs and engage with company leaders.
  • Apply standard planning techniques and procedures.
  • Assist with transportation planning efforts in all modes.

In the role of Springfield Roadway Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Gain real-world experience by applying standard Engineering techniques and procedures through the creation and submission of technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations
  • Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer to assist the team with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs
  • Apply standard planning techniques and procedures
  • Assist with transportation planning efforts in all modes
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
