Job summary

HDR is seeking a Roadway Intern to gain real-world experience by applying standard engineering techniques and preparing reports, plans, specifications and calculations under supervision. You will assist senior engineers with roadway project designs, connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring programs, and participate in local community service activities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques to create and submit technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations.
  • Assist senior engineers with detailed designs of roadway projects.
  • Participate in mentoring programs and engage with colleagues.
  • Support community service events and team activities.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of a Roadway Intern, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain real‑world experience by applying standard Engineering techniques and procedures through the creation and submission of technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations
  • Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior‑level Engineer to assist the team with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs
  • Participate with local colleagues in community service events and activities
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
