Springfield Mall - Retail Security Officer

Provide security as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, law enforcement, and fire departments. Maintain constant awareness of surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area. Maintain a professional image and demonstrate excellent customer service.

Basic Functions

• Control entrances and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Patrol buildings and perimeters.
• Escort materials and personnel.
• Inspect for security and fire hazards.
• Perform special assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary based on department size, location, and post assignments. Officers should:

• Report on time in full uniform.
• Greet customers, visitors, and employees politely and professionally.
• Stay updated on post orders and relevant information.
• Patrol or monitor fixed posts, reporting suspicious activity and incidents.
• Operate cameras and security equipment as per post orders.
• Know emergency procedures and respond appropriately.
• Complete all required reports accurately and timely.
• Suggest safety and loss prevention improvements.
• Be familiar with life safety systems and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with training and regulations.
• Communicate security issues daily with supervisors.
