Job summary

Lee Spring Company in Fraser, MI is seeking a skilled machine operator to set up, start up and run primary and secondary machines, ensuring springs meet printed specifications through quality production.

You will select tooling, fabricate parts from start to finish, perform first-piece and in-process inspections, and assist the plant team in solving production issues; CNC, mills and lathes experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bennett Mechanical Aptitude Test with a score of 50+ or relevant work experience.
• Standard Measuring Instruments Test.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to read part specifications, blueprints, equipment manuals, production reports and schedules.
• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
• Required to stand, walk, and use hands consistently. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Ability to lift or carry minimum 40 lbs.
• Required I-9 documents for authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Set up, start up and run primary and secondary machines to ensure springs conform to specification.
• Make a selection and/or preparation of machine tooling for job orders.
• Manufacture a job order from start to finish in quality spring making, coiling and wire forming.
• Prepare acceptable first piece samples, in-process inspection using calipers, gage blocks, height gages, etc.
• Understand tooling attachments, and other critical components used in manufacturing processes.
• Perform grinding, heat treating / stress relief, and passivation when necessary.
• Assist and recommend solutions to production issues with plant team.
• Machining and CNC general knowledge; experience with mills and lathes a plus.
• Teardown machines including routine cleanup and maintenance.
• General factory assistance including operation of other machines, inspection, maintenance, sampling and tooling.
• Other assigned duties.
