Job summary

The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students professional growth through TECO facilities projects and a professional work environment. The co-op reports to Energy Supply Facilities PM and supports a range of technical projects from planning to execution.

Accountabilities include data collection for FM Systems, AutoCAD updates, field verifications, and drawing/document verification to support furniture and building plans.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited university related to interior design or facilities services.
• Co-op requires enrollment proof; GPA 3.0+.
• Interior Design, Construction Management, Project Management or Facilities Services programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support TECO facilities mechanical equipment, fire suppression equipment and additional assets
• Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support team member space needs across the company including AutoCAD updates to building shells and furniture
• Perform field verification across TECO facilities for use in project planning and scope creation
• Review and update company fire evacuation plans and related fire suppression location tracking
• Create and implement design documents to support company furniture standards
• Create and implement drawing verification and upload of historical TECO building plans

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Position Summary/Details:

The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student. These Design/Project Management co-op positions will report to Energy Supply Facilities PM team and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans.

Accountabilities:As a successful candidate for ourCo/Op Position, you would:

• Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support TECO facilities mechanical equipment, fire suppression equipment and additional assets
• Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support team member space needs across the company including AutoCAD updates to building shells and furniture
• Perform field verification across TECO facilities for use in project planning and scope creation

Physical Location of Co-op: Central Service Area; 2200 E. Sligh Ave Tampa, FL 33610

Preferred Availability: Full time 40 hours per week will be within a Monday – Friday typically within a 7:00AM – 6:00PM window. 20 hours a week minimum required.

Working Conditions:

• Typically, in addition to office work, students will work 50% of the time in the field, and will need to be hands on and be willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, traverse construction sites etc., and to work in industrial environments which can be dirty
• Students must be willing and able to work in any of our services areas including power stations.
• Student must have their own vehicle to drive to any of our sites

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

• To qualifyas a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
