BMW Group seeks an Intern for Physical AI, Robotics & AI Coding to explore cutting-edge technologies in Mountain View, CA for Spring 2027. The role combines scouting, analysis, and PoC support across robotics and AI platforms.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a master's degree, fluent in English, and available for full-time, hybrid work with potential for hands-on experience in automotive AI applications and manufacturing contexts.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a master's degree program at an accredited college or university.
US Work Authorization required.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (overall, not just major).
Completed at least 60 college credit hours at the time of application.
Ability to work full-time (36.25 hours/week).
Must submit an unofficial college transcript with your application.

Responsibilities

Scout emerging U.S.-based technologies, startups, research institutions, and industry players in Physical AI, Robotics, VLA models, and related AI-enabled software development tools.
Evaluate technology trends, business models, and market developments to identify opportunities for BMW production systems and manufacturing processes.
Support benchmarking of humanoid robots, mobile manipulators, foundation models, and AI-enabled automation solutions.
Analyze data strategies for large-scale robotics deployment including data acquisition, labeling, synthetic data generation, and scalable training approaches.
Support planning, execution, and evaluation of PoCs with technology partners, startups, universities, and industrial suppliers.
Develop technology assessments and recommendations considering scalability, maturity, business impact, and implementation effort.
