Shine BrightX LLC in Washington, DC is offering a paid internship focused on advocacy campaigns, grassroots logistics, and digital outreach. The role includes preparing materials, monitoring news, and supporting events and outreach.

You will cover press events, assist with canvassing, and help with social media campaigns. A strong writing and research background plus proficiency in MS Office is required.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Prepare written materials for advocacy campaigns and grassroots logistics, including database maintenance, press releases, FAQ sheets, draft letters, statements, and memos.
• Monitor events in the news, compile press lists, and conduct background research for current and potential clients.
• Cover press events and public hearings, including community board meetings, and assist in public event coordination.
• Help manage canvassing and direct community outreach efforts.
• Assist with digital advertising and social media campaigns.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Rising seniors or recent graduates motivated and responsible, able to work with minimal direction.
• Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, along with general office administrative skills, working quickly and efficiently.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and operating in an Outlook and PC environment.
• Familiarity with social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and knowledge of best practices within these spaces.
• A strong work ethic and high level of professionalism.
• Comfortable communicating by phone with vendors, colleagues, media, and community stakeholders.
• Bonus skills include knowledge of media and politics, familiarity with social media monitoring and media database tools, and Photoshop or design skills (not required).

Compensation & Benefits

• Paid internship at $20 per hour.
• Full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
• Hybrid role with an in-person component at the Washington, D.C. office.
