Job summary

Shine BrightX LLC is seeking a motivated intern to support public policy communications in the United States, Washington. You will craft social media messaging, research digital communities, and assist with outreach across environmental and political spaces.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teams, creation of visuals, basic video work, and contributing to organizational culture goals aligned with EDF values. Local internship wage applies.

Qualifications

• Interest in public policy, environmental and energy issues and/or digital media.
• Recommended coursework in public policy or environmental and sustainability studies.
• Experience in scheduling and creating communications collateral.
• Experience using Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Work with the Politics and Advocacy Communications team to craft social media messaging around key issue areas, emphasizing rapid response.
• Research Slack communities and Discord channels in environmental, political, and cultural spheres aligned with EDF Action’s mission, with opportunities for outreach.
• Support collaboration with Congressional offices on communications campaigns.
• Contribute to developing static and video social media posts and captions for EDF Action’s platforms.
• Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals to foster inclusion and empowerment aligned with EDF values.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Demonstrated interest in public policy, strategic communications, environmental and energy issues, and/or digital media.
• Recommended coursework in public policy or environmental and sustainability studies.
• Experience in scheduling and creating communications collateral.
• Experience using Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator.
• Basic proficiency in video production (Adobe or CapCut preferred), social media management, and trend reporting or media monitoring.
• Experience with digital organizing is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with diverse colleagues and stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

• Paid internship at $18/hour or local minimum wage if higher.
