Job summary

Precision Castparts in Cleveland invites a co-op student to engage in hands-on engineering assignments within the materials, mechanical, or aeronautical disciplines. You will apply classroom learning to real-world process and product design, while progressing through increasing levels of responsibility and contributing to project goals.

Ideal candidates are full-time students pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a 3.0+ GPA, excellent writing and teamwork skills, and US citizenship or permanent

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline with strong academic performance.
• Excel and Access proficiency is required for data analysis and documentation.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to hands-on design and process improvements.
• Achieve performance goals with increasing responsibility during the co-op.
• Identify and recommend process improvements for projects.
• Attend departmental meetings and training sessions.
• Perform systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
• Own and manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Job description

Summary

The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their functional engineering discipline. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• The student will apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and product design.
• The student will be responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility in process and /or product engineering throughout his/her co-op experience.
• Will identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects.
• Student will attend regular departmental meeting.
• Student will attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
• Will perform or review systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
• Will take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
• Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze improvements and new product or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team.
• Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of related engineering discipline functional and technical skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access
• Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Education And/or Experience Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Materials, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Prefer a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Student will spend 50%-60% of time in the manufacturing plant and minimal travel may be required.

Other Benefits

• Co-ops will be paid $25.00 hour /40-hours a week.
• Monthly housing stipend of $1,000 (requirements must be met to qualify).
• Given top priority for future co-op rotations and full-time positions.
