Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Spring 2027 Cyber Security Student Assistant to support entry-level security operations from January to May 2027. The role is part-time, up to 29 hours per week, with compensation of $18.43 to $27.65 per hour.

The position includes exposure to SIEM tooling, incident response, and routine SOC tasks in a learning environment. The student will perform log analysis, malware handling, phishing monitoring, threat updates, and dashboard/reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Undergraduate cybersecurity coursework or enrolled in qualifying degree.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Log analysis for SOC monitoring.

Spring 2027 Cyber Security Student Assistant

Job Description Summary

Salary: $18.43 - $27.65 per hour

This position is part-time working up to 29 hours per week from January - May 2027.

The Cybersecurity Student Assistant is designed to provide exposure to a variety of security tasks that one should expect a junior or entry-level security analyst to perform. These include SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tool usage, virus/malware remediation, Procedural Documentation, audit support, incident response, and general tasks of the security operations center (SOC). In addition, CSA may be asked to complete a project to advance their understanding of cybersecurity. This project will be adjusted to the needs of TRWD and matched to the skill set of the student.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Log analysis
• Malware/Virus removal and analysis
• Phishing mailbox monitoring and remediation
• Threat feed monitoring and updating
• SIEM tool incident monitoring
• SIEM tool dashboard/reporting creation and monitoring
• Documentation and reporting
• Maintain familiarity with strategic district levels of service
• Continuous improvement monitoring and innovation efforts
• Perform other duties as required

Required Experience

• Less than one (1) year of related experience
• General computer literacy
• Introductory knowledge of security concepts: AV, Firewall, etc.
• Good communication skills (Verbal and Written)

• Entry into a qualified undergraduate degree with cyber security course work. Qualified degrees are as follows:
