Job summary

TREW LLC in West Chester, OH, is seeking a Spring 2027 Controls / Electrical Engineering Co-Op. This temporary, hands-on learning opportunity supports cooperative education students in designing and implementing control and electrical systems for automated material handling equipment.

You'll use AutoCAD for electrical design, shadow senior engineers, select components and prepare BOMs, and configure PLC programs for real-time control and data collection.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Engineering Technology or Computer Science.
• Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical and PLCs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Using AutoCAD for electrical design including device layout, schematic and control panel design and communication architecture.
• Assisting and shadowing Senior Engineers.
• Performing component selection and bill of materials preparation.
• Configuring standard PLC programs for real-time control of automated equipment and collection of diagnostic and production data.
• Assisting in on-site technical checkout of material handling equipment and controls.

Spring 2027 Controls / Electrical Engineering Co-Op

West Chester, OH

Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM

The Co-op position is a temporary, hands-on learning opportunity for a student enrolled in a cooperative education program. We are looking for engineering students to aid in the design and implementation of control and/or electrical systems for automated material handling equipment. This is project/application-based work that provides new and varied technical challenges from one project to the next.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Using AutoCAD for electrical design including device layout, schematic and control panel design and communication architecture.
• Assisting and shadowing Senior Engineers.
• Performing component selection and bill of material preparation.
• Configuring standard PLC programs for real-time control of automated equipment and collection of diagnostic and production data.
• Assisting in on-site technical checkout of material handling equipment and controls.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Have exposure to AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Have exposure to programmable logic controllers (PLC) or programmable automation controllers (PAC).
• Enjoy working as a team to lead the way in providing superior solutions to our customers.

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Work Environment

This is primarily a desk-based role, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use. While the role is mainly desk-based, mobility within the office, manufacturing facility and customer sites may be required for meetings and interactions with colleagues.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Ability to traverse office, manufacturing facility and customer sites.
