Job summary

Invariant is seeking Communications and Public Affairs Interns for spring 2027 in Washington, DC. Interns will perform media and social media analysis, build media lists, and create social content while gaining mentorship in a dynamic environment.

Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to a full-time internship and who are eager to develop writing skills for clients across government relations and public affairs.

Qualifications

• Strong research and writing ability.
• High level of comfort with social media and other online platforms.
• Enthusiasm for news, public affairs, and/or public relations.
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator, is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Attention to detail and willingness to take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Interns perform a range of duties, including media and social media analysis, researching journalists, building media lists, and creating social media content.
• Interns research potential stakeholders and opportunities to position executives at conferences and through awards.
• Daily responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the firm.

Invariant, a bipartisan government relations and communications firm providing strategic advice to companies, trade associations, nonprofits, and individuals, seeks Communications and Public Affairs Interns for spring 2027. Preference will be given to candidates able to commit to a full-time internship.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interns will begin their term with Invariant in person on January 11, 2027. The compensation for this position is $19/hour for undergraduate candidates and $24/hour for graduate candidates.
