Job summary

St. John's University is seeking a Spring 2027 CCPS Adjunct Professor at the Queens Campus to teach computer science, cybersecurity, networking systems, information technology or mathematics courses.

The position is part-time, with compensation disclosed per contact hour and a standard adjunct appointment process. Responsibilities include preparing outlines, developing lectures and assessments, evaluating student work, and maintaining communication with students and the Division Chair throughout

Qualifications

• Master's degree in the discipline or related field is required.
• Industry experience and college teaching experience preferred at certain ranks.
• At instructor level, and higher ranks, teaching experience is required or preferred depending on rank.

Responsibilities

• Teach computer science, cybersecurity, networking systems, information technology or mathematics courses.
• Prepare and distribute course outlines in line with syllabi.
• Develop instructional materials to meet stated learning outcomes.
• Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Engage with students outside the classroom via email, phone, or meetings.
• Post final grades within required timelines after the semester ends.

Job Responsibilities

The division is seeking candidates for all ranks at the adjunct level to teach computer science, cybersecurity, networking systems, information technology or mathematics courses.

Adjunct faculty work under the direct supervision of the Division Chair. Once assigned a course or courses, they are expected to:

• Prepare and distribute to students a course outline in accordance with the course syllabus.
• Develop instructional materials (lectures, readings, assignments, exams, projects, etc.) that will achieve the learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
• Evaluate student performance throughout the semester and provide periodic and constructive feedback to students in a reasonable amount of time.
• Be available to engage with students outside the classroom by email, phone, web conferencing, or face-to-face meetings.
• Evaluate student performance and post final grades for each student within the timeframe required by the Provost's Office and be available for two weeks after the semester concludes to discuss final grades with students by email or phone.
• Promptly respond to requests for information before, during, and after the course as required by the Division Chair and the CCPSDean's Office.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range forthis position is Adjunct Instructor $1,803 per contact hour,Adjunct Assistant $1,906 per contact hour, Adjunct Associate $2,009per contact hour, and Adjunct Professor $2,215 per contact hour.
