Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a full-time tree trimming crew member in Brighton, CO to prune, cut, and manage vegetation near energized lines. You will operate climbing gear, wood chippers, and hydraulic lifts while maintaining safety and compliance with ANSI Z133.1 and OSHA guidelines.

The role requires knowledge of electrical circuits, certifications (First-Aid, CPR, herbicide), and ability to travel during emergencies. Strong teamwork and punctuality are essential assets for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 months of experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews, or successful completion of applicable skills assessments
  • Basic knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques
  • Knowledge of ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read and understand circuit maps
  • Knowledge of OSHA electric power generation, transmission, and distribution standards, including 29 CFR 1910.269
  • Ability to determine nominal voltage and use insulated tools near energized parts
  • Ability to read, write, and understand job instructions and safety information
  • Ability to recognize poisonous plants
  • Ability to wear required PPE
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, holidays, weekends, and storm work; subject to call-out work
  • Knowledge of and training in tree and bucket rescue
  • Ability to operate and service required tools and equipment
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR cards, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's or commercial driver's license and DOT medical card
  • Herbicide application certification or equivalent, as required by the employer and applicable law
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently
  • Ability to travel extensively, greater than 50%
  • English proficiency required for reading, writing, and speaking

Responsibilities

  • Prune, remove, and fell trees, limbs, and shrubs near energized power lines
  • Load manageable limbs and logs onto vehicles and equipment
  • Use climbing equipment, powered trimmer lift trucks, ladders, hand saws, ground saws, pruners, and rigging lines
  • Cut and lower branches or trunk sections from elevated positions
  • Fell trees or spars and split them into manageable pieces
  • Work near hazardous equipment and energized conductors under qualified supervision
  • Supervise non-qualified employees near energized conductors after qualification prerequisites are met
  • Apply herbicides and growth regulators to brush and stumps and maintain application records

  • Drive and operate assigned vehicles and equipment
  • Remain on duty and travel outside the regular work location during emergencies or natural disasters
