This hybrid role of Material Handler / Yard Spotter ensures the efficient flow of goods through the warehouse and yard. Inside the warehouse, you'll safely operate forklifts to move, store, and prepare freight, and assist in packing and palletizing custom product displays. Outside the warehouse, you'll act as a yard spotter, ensuring trailers are positioned properly and the yard remains organized and operational.

Key Responsibilities
Material Handler Duties
  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to load/unload, move, stack, and stage products.
  • Inspect inbound/outbound trailers for damage, contamination, and discrepancies.
  • Perform order picking, staging, and product preparation based on shipping documents.
  • Build custom display pallets: unpack, mix products, re-stack, and shrink-wrap as needed.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections; report any issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and proper stock rotation.
  • Assist in physical inventory counts and other general warehouse duties.
  • Keep work area clean and free of debris.
Yard Spotter Duties
  • Coordinate trailer movements with the shipping office and warehouse team.
  • Perform daily yard checks to ensure trailer placement and organization.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of spotter truck and trailers.
  • Monitor trailer conditions; red tag and report issues to maintenance.
  • Maintain orderly drop lots and assist with snow removal and site cleanliness as needed.
  • Support dock operations by positioning trailers and assisting other drivers.
Requirements
  • Experience: Prior forklift and/or yard spotter experience preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 60 lbs), and climbing required. Must be comfortable working in various climates (0°F to 100°F, indoor/outdoor, dry/wet conditions).
  • Skills: Safe equipment operation and driving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Must be able to speak, read, and understand English. Team-oriented with a positive attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Certifications: Forklift certification preferred (or ability to be certified).
