Description

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a Spot-Welding Operator to join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arcs by torching metals being welded to complete electrical circuits
  2. Programs the equipment and changes tips
  3. Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts components parts to obtain the required configuration for welding
  4. Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications
  5. Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifies supervisor
  6. Positions parts in specified locations using a variety of fastening devices and/or other sub-components
  7. Determines the appropriate tools and equipment required for the job
  8. Uses disc grinder to smooth out, weld or grind part prior to welding
  9. Repairs broken or cracked parts and prepares surfaces
  10. Operates lift equipment as needed
  11. Uses precision measuring tools as required
  12. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  13. Completes all necessary paperwork as required, including in process or carbon copy production sheets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 1+ years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting preferred
  2. Produce a quality part to required specifications in a reasonable amount of time
  3. Quickly and repeatedly adjust tool and machine controls to exact positions and settings
  4. Be proficient in operating assigned welding equipment successfully as required and with minimal supervision
  5. Use measuring tools as required
  6. Read and understand Blueprints

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
