Requirements
College degree in Health, Physical Fitness or Exercise Physiology preferred.
Must possess previous experience as aerobics/fitness instructor and have a current group fitness certification.
Ability to competently and independently carry out fitness programs through the proper application of principles, concepts and techniques of recreation to satisfy needs of the community to be served.
Skill in planning and carrying out an enhanced program in the recreation specialty area which meets the needs of the participating community.
Must be certified in CPR and First Aid certified within one month of employment.
Must be Personal Trainer certified by a NCCA agency within 6 months of employment.
Must be able to assess patron interests and needs. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Must be proficient in computing and various Microsoft Office programs.
Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain the following within 60 days of hire: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certification, Automated External Defibrillator Certification, Blood-borne Pathogen Training, Navy Basic Fitness Certification.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
