Job summary

YMCA of the North Shore in Beverly, MA is seeking a part-time Sports Specialist to coach youth basketball, run clinics, and lead seasonal leagues with a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship.

You'll referee games, manage equipment, assist with events and summer camps, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants. The role includes evenings and weekends with opportunities for advancement within our network.

Responsibilities

• Support summer camps and seasonal sports programming year-round.

What You'll Do

• Support summer camps and seasonal sports programming throughout the year.
• Help create a welcoming environment where every child feels included, challenged, and successful.

Qualifications

You may be especially interested in this opportunity if you aspire to become an Athletic Director, Sports Program Manager, Camp Director, Recreation Director, or a leader within a nonprofit organization. This role also provides an excellent career foundation for recent graduates or students pursuing degrees in Sports & Recreation Management, Business, Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Physical Education, Education, or related fields.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Availability to work a flexible Tuesday–Saturday schedule.
• Experience coaching, officiating, or participating in organized sports, with basketball experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working with youth and creating a positive, engaging environment.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lead sports leagues, practices, clinics, and recreational programs while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development.
