Job summary

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for seasonal Sports Officials within the Recreation Department, specifically Basketball Officials. This position enforces rules during LCRD sporting events and supports fair play.

Responsibilities include presiding over events, enforcing rules and sportsmanship, communicating with scorekeepers, and assisting with any on-court incidents as directed by Athletic Staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• More than six (6) months of experience in the supervision of a sporting activity or sport.

JOB SUMMARY

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

1. Knowledge of specific GHSA and Recreation Department league rules.
2. Knowledge of rules and methods of play for the event or game to which assigned.
3. Ability to exercise fair and impartial judgment and render decisions quickly.
4. Ability to maintain order and secure respect of game participants.
5. Skill in keeping records and making reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position requires the ability to stand or walk for an extended period with occasional periods of running.
• This position requires the ability to frequently lift light objects and occasionally lift heavy objects.
• This position is typically performed in an indoor gymnasium or outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• More than six (6) months of experience in the supervision of a sporting activity or sport.
