Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa seeks a dynamic candidate for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of sports media and communication to engage in research, teaching, and leadership related to its new Sports Media and Communication (SMC) major. The SMC program trains students with hands-on content using industry tools across broadcasting, writing, social media, and PR.

Qualifications

• MS in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field and five years of relevant, full-time professional experience.
• Ph.D. or relevant terminal degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field.
• Associate/Full rank requires peer‑reviewed scholarship or juried creative works commensurate with rank.
• Preferred: teaching excellence and ability to teach courses in sports media, advertising, digital storytelling, journalism, or public relations.

Responsibilities

• Engage in research, teaching, and leadership related to the new Sports Media and Communication major.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program goals for the SMC program.
• Collaborate with colleagues and uphold ACEJMC accreditation standards.
