Job summary

Hearst Television’s WCVB internship offers a hands-on experience in the sports department, where you will learn how stories are developed, produced and delivered across multiple platforms. You will contribute to daily operations and build a foundation in broadcast journalism.

You will coordinate with schools and coaches, gather scores and ideas, select highlights, and publish content for digital and TV. This role provides mentorship from experienced sports journalists in a fast-paced setting.

WCVB delivers breaking news to Boston-area audiences 24 hours a day across our television newscasts and digital platforms. As an intern, you will gain firsthand experience inside a fast-paced newsroom, learning how stories are developed, produced, and delivered across multiple platforms. You will be expected to actively contribute to daily operations while building a strong foundation in broadcast journalism. In this role, you will gain experience in the following parts of the sports department:

• Coordinate with local schools, coaches, and athletic departments
• Help gather game information, scores, and story ideas
• Identify/recommend highlights for sports anchors, reporters, and photographers/editors
• Create and publish content for digital and television platforms
• Work alongside experienced sports journalists in a fast-paced newsroom

This is a hands‑on opportunity to gain real‑world experience in sports broadcasting while building your editing, producing, and storytelling skills.

Salary: $20/hour
