• High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 90 days of employment.

• Experience with youth sports and safety knowledge is a plus.

• Lead Site Supervisor for youth and adult sports programs; ensure on-time start/end, monitor weather/field conditions, and officiate games as needed.
• Be lead contact for parents and volunteers; manage voicemails/emails timely and report to Sports Operations Director.
• Lead coach and main contact for pre-school sports programs (Rookie Basketball, Soccer, Football, T-Ball).
• Recruit, screen, and train youth volunteer coaches; ensure adherence to YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Lead sports staff payroll and oversee scheduling, training, and accountability.
• Attend sports leadership meetings and manage registration timelines and field/court markings.
• Ensure equipment safety and proper inventory; maintain field/court markings across multiple sports.
• Use DAXKO to run reports, view rosters, track payroll.
• Other duties as assigned.

Description

Job Summary

The Sports Coordinator must have an enthusiastic personality with an ability to develop relationships with participants, parents and other staff. They must have an extensive knowledge of the major sports and a desire to use that knowledge to grow professionally with the YMCA. They should present themselves in a professional, caring manner and have excellent communication skills. They should also learn and understand the YMCA’s mission and best practices in order to help foster and ensure all sports practices, games and events at the Y have a mission driven atmosphere.

Schedule: Varies according to season and program needs. Evenings and weekends required. Maximum of 25 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as Lead Site Supervisor for all youth and adult sports programs ensuring practices and games begin and end on time, monitoring weather and field conditions to make appropriate cancellation decisions to ensure participant and staff safety, and officiating games as needed.
• Serve as lead contact for parents and volunteers for the branch. Responsible for returning voicemails and emails in a timely manner and reporting any communication needed to the Sports Operations Director.
• Serve as Lead Coach and main contact for all pre-school sports programs such as but not limited to Rookie Basketball, Rookie Soccer, Rookie Football and Rookie T-Ball.
• Recruits, screens, and trains youth sports volunteer coaches to lead teams of participants each season and ensure these volunteer coaches adhere to the YMCA Code of Conduct.
• Leads all aspects of highly efficient and effective sports officials’ team including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and holding staff accountable on a daily basis.
• Follow registration calendar timeline that includes coaches meeting, roster distribution, practice and game dates and make up dates.
• Conducts coach’s meetings for youth sports as well as orientations and captain’s meetings for adult sports programs.
• Ensures equipment is well-maintained, safe to use and properly inventoried after each season and completes all necessary field and court markings which include but are not limited to soccer, flag football, baseball, volleyball and basketball.
• Use DAXKO to run reports, view rosters, track payroll, etc
• Responsible for sports staff part-time payroll.
• Attend sports leadership meetings
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required, Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED- must obtain certification within first 90 days of employment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)- Preferred
• Personal training background- Preferred
• Ability to provide a high level of customer service
• Possess strong sense of responsibility
