Job summary

East Wake Academy is seeking a part-time Sports Coach to support high school athletic programs in Zebulon, NC. You will help prepare and run practices, assist with conditioning, and coordinate with senior coaches to implement techniques.

You will communicate event updates to families using school software and help arrange travel as needed. The role requires solid coaching skills, knowledge of sports rules, and the ability to work with student-athletes in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and their rules.
• Demonstrated coaching skills in the relevant sport.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication with student-athletes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing.
• Knowledge of strengthening and conditioning methods and techniques.
• Prior high school or college playing or coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
• Receive guidance from senior coaches on procedures, methods, and techniques.
• Assist with oversight of athletic training, strength and conditioning workouts; provide technical support to athletes as needed.
• Share event and practice updates with parents using school software.
• Assist in planning and arranging team travel.

K/S/A:

• Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and rules
• Demonstrated coaching skills in area of sporting specialty.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with student-athletes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of strengthening and conditioning methods and techniques.
• Previous High School or College playing or coaching strongly preferred.

• Receives guidance and instruction from more senior coaches in general and specific coaching procedures, methods, and techniques.
• Assists as directed with the oversight of athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
• Facilitates information on events and practices changes to parents using school software.
• Assists as appropriate in planning and arranging team travel.

Conditions of Employment:

• Compliance with NCHSAA rules and regulations and all other rules outlined in the school code of conduct.
• Potential coaches must complete any coaching education courses required to become eligible in their specific sport
• Must be able to obtain CPR Certification (EWA funded)
• Must be trained on EWA Emergency Action Plan Procedures
• Driver’s License
