Young World Physical Education is seeking a part-time Athletic Coach to instruct and develop athletes in Suffolk, Virginia. This role emphasizes the importance of skill development, teamwork, and character building.
Responsibilities include organizing training programs, managing athlete performance, and maintaining safety during events. The successful candidate will have previous coaching experience and a commitment to fostering growth in student athletes.

POSITION TITLE: ATHLETIC COACH
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. The coach should continue to upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, and other professional development. The success of athletic programs strongly influences community perception; public exposure is a significant responsibility and community/parent pressure for performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and mental health. The position includes extended time, risk of injury, and due process predicaments. The coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment in unanticipated circumstances. Performance is evaluated yearly and may be renewed for the upcoming school year.
Reports To: Athletic Director and, in collaboration with high school principals, may advise and support a staff of assistant and middle school coaches.
Ability to organize and supervise an entire sports program; previous successful coaching experience in the assigned major sport; substantial knowledge of technical aspects, continuous study of new theories and procedures; serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes.
Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned or major sport; demonstrated ability to instruct, motivate, and supervise student‑athletes; commitment to professional growth through clinics, observations, and consultation.
