Job summary

Elevo is seeking an energetic Youth Sports Coach in Downey, CA to lead daily practices for students in grades 3–8 and foster SEL growth through sports.

You will organize, coach, and mentor groups of up to 20 students, emphasize teamwork, respect, and skill development, and communicate with families and school staff about schedules and progress. Training provided; certification a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching youth sports or working with students in an athletic capacity.
• Strong knowledge of soccer, basketball and flag football.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and foster social-emotional growth.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, parents, and administration.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct daily sports practices for students in grades 3–8.
• Teach and reinforce fundamental sports skills in traditional and non-traditional sports.
• Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive sportsmanship.
• Prepare students for competitive games with skill development and strategy.
• Organize and oversee competitions ensuring participation for all.
• Implement activities promoting social-emotional growth and confidence.
• Monitor student well-being and provide mentorship on and off the field.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and administration about schedules and progress.
• Maintain equipment and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
