Big 5 Sporting Goods in Southern California is seeking a Management Trainee to join our neighborhood store team. This entry-level role provides hands-on leadership experience and a fast-paced work environment, with a defined training path designed to prepare you for promotion to higher management.

The program lasts 6–18 months, featuring a structured training plan under experienced personnel to help you grow.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam.
• Flexible Scheduling and E-Verify
• Light to moderate lifting may be required

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Driving sales and responding to customer inquiries.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer questions.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Direct oversight of footwear and advertising programs and other departments.
• Merchandising and compliance with company policies.
• Setting promotional signage and stocking shelves.
• Checking and retrieving merchandise from stockroom as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Training newly hired associates and directing sales/cashier staff.
• Inventory control and loss-prevention enforcement.
